Belmopan Cycling Classic Set for Sunday
The main event on the annual cycling calendar, the Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic is only a month away. On Sunday the riders will participate in the last major race before the Cross Country – the 29th running of the annual Belmopan Cycling Classic. U-12 & U-15 Basket ballers Win Silver in Guatemala
Belize’s Under 12 and Under 15 basketball teams returned home yesterday from a regional tournament in Guatemala as sub champions. Both teams won silver in the Central American tournament held last week at the Quetzalteco Stadium in Quezaltenango, Guatemala. Brads Neal was the coach for the Under 12 and Mathew Smiling was the coach for the Under 15 team. They discussed the tournament results with the buzzer beater by Frederick Roach Williams.

Marion Jones hopes to make a comeback in basketball
She made Belize proud at the Sydney Olympics when she wrapped the Belize flag on her next to the American flag after zipping past the finish line in first place. Marion Jones went on to win five medals in track and field. The super-athlete was stripped of her medals after admitting to doping and was then sent to prison. The National Primary School Volleyball Championship was held today at the City Center in Belize City. Boys and Girls teams from all six districts converged on the city centre at 8:30 am for a full day of games. Sponsors of CODICADER athletes take center stage
The students who competed in the CODICADER games in Costa Rica were awarded earlier this week, and today the sponsors took the spotlight. The National Secondary School Sports Association (NSSSA) handed out certificates of appreciation to the organizations that made it possible for one hundred and three Belizean athletes to participate in the competition. Harrison Roches Wins MVP in Honduras
A Belizean footballer has been recognized for his outstanding play in the Honduran semi-pro league. Harrison Kafu Roaches (Tasher) won the best player trophy for his team Platense. Basketball Federation Appeals to World Court of Sports
The Belize Basketball Federations had 30 days to file an appeal of the decision handed down to it at FIBA. Hummingbird & St. John's Vianney are District Volleyball Champs
And while the scouts are cleaning up the environment, the students of Hummingbird Elementary and St. John’s Vianney were cleaning up with medals and trophies today. The occasion was the Belize District volleyball finals and teams competed in both male and female disciplines. Junior Athletes Get Trophies for CODICADER Games
More than one hundred junior athletes represented Belize in last month’s Central American Council for Sports and Recreation Games in Costa Rica. None of them returned home with medals but today the volleyball team from St. Catherine’s Academy and the male basketball team from Sadie Vernon High School received trophies from the Ministry of Sports.

Bitter Loss for National Cricket Team
But the youths weren’t the only ones recognized today. Belize’s National Cricket Team returned from Chile with silver medals. They say the competition was stiff and the loss against Brazil was bitter.
